Health Safety Protocols

Image of a woman smiling, after having healthy teeth and following health safety protocols at Bradshaw Family Dental. To Our Valued Patients at Surprise Smiles,

Welcome! We are open, looking forward to seeing returning patients, accepting new patients, and operating under normal business hours! The Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDS) is still not recommending any type of closures or modification in hours. We will continue to monitor information coming from both the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and AZDHS and keep you apprised of any changes or updates. We will stay on top of this information and bring it to you as soon as possible through our website, email, and social media.

As we continue to navigate through the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, our dentists and dental team want to assure you that we are continuing to do our best to make sure it a priority that we are following the latest health and safety guidelines from the CDC, specifically as they relate to the dental industry. We value keeping our patients and staff members safe and comfortable.

As part of our daily standard health and safety protocols, our office follows ‘Universal Precautions’ in order to protect our patients and our staff. These are precautions we have always taken, and are not new. By taking ‘universal precautions’ means we always assume that anyone could potentially be carrying a contagious and dangerous disease. We therefore follow strict guidelines to prevent the transmission of any potential disease, be it COVID-19 (Coronavirus), hepatitis, tuberculosis, HIV, or any other disease. This has been a standard of care we follow, per the CDC, in regard to blood borne pathogens.

These measures include:
•  strict hand washing protocols
•  use of (single use) disposable protective equipment and barriers
•  thorough disinfection of exposed or potentially exposed surfaces after every patient visit
•  disinfection and high-heat steam sterilization of instruments and routine monitoring of sterilization verification
•  continued education on infection control

•  disinfecting common surface areas every 30 minutes
•  providing hand sanitizer in common areas
•  screening everyone who enters our offices based on CDC recommendations
•  offering preprocedural mouth rinse

As state and national health and safety regulations change and evolve during these times, Surprise Smiles is dedicated to monitoring and evaluating our dental practice and office space for any potential risks as we serve our patients and community. We strive to maintain an approach to our dentistry services that is both safe and beneficial to everyone we serve.

We strive to provide a safe, healthy, comfortable, and relaxed environment for everyone that comes into our dental office. We follow the American Dental Association’s Update to Office Procedures During COVID-19 in regard to safe office procedures, workplace hazards, and making decisions for best office practices. We stay informed on recent information given to dentists in this regard, as well as keeping up to date with any changes recommended by the CDC.

Please let us know if you have any questions in regard to our health and safety protocols here at Surprise Smiles. We recognize that it can be challenging during these unprecedented times of COVID-19. We all want to get back to our normal lives, and we will be able to do so, in a safe, wise, and healthy manner. We will be happy to answer any questions that you may have in regard to our dental practice health and safety protocols, cleaning, and disinfecting procedures we follow.

Porcelain Dental Veneers
Prescott Valley, AZ

Veneers provided by Our Expert Dentists in Prescott Valley, AZ at

Woman with beautiful veneers from her Prescott Valley dentistYour teeth play many important roles in your mouth. In addition to biting and chewing food as well as controlling airflow for speech, your teeth also play a very important role in the appearance of your smile. Even small imperfections can play a major role, causing you to feel self-conscious and embarrassed. At Bradshaw Family Dental, we can help to improve the quality of your smile with porcelain veneers.

What Are Veneers?

Your teeth are a significant component in the overall quality of your smile. There are many different types of flaws that can affect their appearance. When your teeth are less than perfect, your smile suffers significantly. Even the smallest flaws can have a major impact. Minor flaws that can affect your teeth, and your smile, include:
•  Small chips or cracks in your tooth enamel.
•  Small alignment issues such as spaces between your teeth or slight overlapping that does not impact your oral health.
•  Teeth that are smaller than the rest.
•  Oddly shaped teeth.
•  Discoloration or staining that cannot be treated with whitening.

Veneers are a cosmetic solution meant to treat minor dental flaws. They are small, shell-like restorations that are made from impressions of your mouth. They are designed to sit over the front surfaces of the affected teeth, effectively covering over the flaws. They blend in perfectly with the rest of your teeth, completely transforming your smile.

Why Porcelain?

Veneers are made from either composite resin or porcelain. Porcelain is generally the preferred material. There are several reasons for this. Benefits of porcelain veneers include:
•  A completely natural appearance. Porcelain can be stained to perfectly match the color of your natural teeth. The material also reflects light much like your natural tooth enamel.
•  Strength. Veneers are a stronger solution than bonding. Porcelain is stronger than composite. Where composite veneers are rated to last 5 to 7 years, porcelain veneers can last up to 15 years or more with proper care.
•  Stain-resistant. Composite veneers are porous. Because of this, they can stain easily. Unlike your natural teeth, however, these veneers cannot be whitened. Instead, if you want to improve the color of your teeth, and your veneers, you will need to replace the veneers. Porcelain veneers, on the other hand, can resist staining. Even so, it is important to take good care of them, and the rest of your teeth, to prevent any discoloration from occurring.

Getting Your Porcelain Veneers

Getting porcelain veneers usually takes two separate appointments. At your first appointment, the affected teeth are prepared. After providing a local anesthetic, we remove a very small layer of the enamel from the front surfaces of the teeth that will be treated. Next, we take an impression of your mouth. This impression is sent to our dental lab, where it is used to design and fabricate your custom porcelain veneers.

At your second appointment, your veneers are tried on your teeth to assess the fit, your bite, and the overall appearance. If no adjustments are needed, the veneers are bonded to the teeth with a special dental cement.

Porcelain veneers are an effective treatment for improving the appearance of your teeth and the overall quality of your smile. Call Bradshaw Family Dental today at (928) 277-0076 for more information and to find out if porcelain veneers are the right treatment for you.
