To Our Valued Patients at Surprise Smiles,

Welcome! We are open, looking forward to seeing returning patients, accepting new patients, and operating under normal business hours! The Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDS) is still not recommending any type of closures or modification in hours. We will continue to monitor information coming from both the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and AZDHS and keep you apprised of any changes or updates. We will stay on top of this information and bring it to you as soon as possible through our website, email, and social media.

As we continue to navigate through the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, our dentists and dental team want to assure you that we are continuing to do our best to make sure it a priority that we are following the latest health and safety guidelines from the CDC, specifically as they relate to the dental industry. We value keeping our patients and staff members safe and comfortable.

As part of our daily standard health and safety protocols, our office follows ‘Universal Precautions’ in order to protect our patients and our staff. These are precautions we have always taken, and are not new. By taking ‘universal precautions’ means we always assume that anyone could potentially be carrying a contagious and dangerous disease. We therefore follow strict guidelines to prevent the transmission of any potential disease, be it COVID-19 (Coronavirus), hepatitis, tuberculosis, HIV, or any other disease. This has been a standard of care we follow, per the CDC, in regard to blood borne pathogens.

These measures include:
•  strict hand washing protocols
•  use of (single use) disposable protective equipment and barriers
•  thorough disinfection of exposed or potentially exposed surfaces after every patient visit
•  disinfection and high-heat steam sterilization of instruments and routine monitoring of sterilization verification
•  continued education on infection control

•  disinfecting common surface areas every 30 minutes
•  providing hand sanitizer in common areas
•  screening everyone who enters our offices based on CDC recommendations
•  offering preprocedural mouth rinse

As state and national health and safety regulations change and evolve during these times, Surprise Smiles is dedicated to monitoring and evaluating our dental practice and office space for any potential risks as we serve our patients and community. We strive to maintain an approach to our dentistry services that is both safe and beneficial to everyone we serve.

We strive to provide a safe, healthy, comfortable, and relaxed environment for everyone that comes into our dental office. We follow the American Dental Association’s Update to Office Procedures During COVID-19 in regard to safe office procedures, workplace hazards, and making decisions for best office practices. We stay informed on recent information given to dentists in this regard, as well as keeping up to date with any changes recommended by the CDC.

Please let us know if you have any questions in regard to our health and safety protocols here at Surprise Smiles. We recognize that it can be challenging during these unprecedented times of COVID-19. We all want to get back to our normal lives, and we will be able to do so, in a safe, wise, and healthy manner. We will be happy to answer any questions that you may have in regard to our dental practice health and safety protocols, cleaning, and disinfecting procedures we follow.

Cone Beam - CT 3D Scan
Prescott Valley, AZ

Cone Beam CT 3D Scan Prescott Valley, AZWhen issues with your oral health arise, it is crucial that you seek treatment immediately. During your exam, we need to see all parts of your mouth. However, there are many parts of your mouth that are hidden away from view. At Bradshaw Family Dental, we can get a complete picture of all structures in your mouth, which allows us to create a more effective treatment plan, with the CT 3D scan.

What is a CT 3D Scan?

A CT 3D scan is a type of scanning technology that is far more advanced than traditional CT scans and X-rays. The CT 3D scan uses a cone-shaped X-ray beam that rotates 360 degrees around your head to capture a 3D image of all structures of your mouth, including teeth, bone, soft tissues, and nerves. As the X-ray beam rotates around your head, it takes several pictures. Once the scan is complete, the technology pieces these pictures together to create a single 3D image. Specialized software allows us to manipulate the image in some different ways to see your mouth from different angles and investigate the smallest details. These features help to provide us with an accurate diagnosis and provide you with a much more effective treatment.

What Can a CT 3D Scan Be Used For?

The CT 3D scan can be used for some different purposes. These include
•  Diagnosing impacted teeth.
•  Assessing the anatomy of an infected tooth for an effective root canal treatment.
•  Determining optimal implant location. Also, with the ability to see nerves, we can avoid them.
•  Determining the need for a bone graft.
•  Evaluating sinus cavities and if you require a sinus lift before implant placement.
•  Diagnosing pathological diseases.
•  Evaluating tumors in the jaw.

What to Expect During Your Scan

The process for getting a scan is quick and completely painless. Before the scan begins, you will be instructed to remove all jewelry and hair accessories with metal. Glasses and hearing aids will also need to be removed. When you are ready, you sit at the machine and place your chin on the rest. Adjustments to the CT 3D scan machine are made to ensure the best possible picture. The total time it takes to capture your image is less than a minute. However, you must remain completely still during this time. Once the scan is complete, it only takes a few more seconds for the image to show in 3D on the monitor.

The Benefits of a CT 3D Scan

The CT 3D scan provides several benefits, including
•  Quick and painless. The scan takes less than 60 seconds, and you will not feel anything.
•  We are provided with high-quality images with much less distortion.
•  We can perform cross-sectional imaging.
•  Using specialized software, we can rotate your image to see your mouth from multiple angles. We can also zoom in on specific areas and enhance for greater detail.
•  With greater accuracy, we can provide you with more effective restorative treatments.
•  You are exposed to much less radiation than a traditional CT scan or full mouth X-ray sets.

With a CT 3D scan, we can get a complete picture of all of the structures in your mouth, which then allows for a more accurate diagnosis and a much more effective treatment plan. Call Bradshaw Family Dental at (928) 277-0076 today for more information and find out how a CT 3D scan can help you.
