To Our Valued Patients,

As this newest challenge continues to unfold with COVID-19(Coronavirus), we wanted to give you an update. First, we are currently maintaining our regular schedule. As of now, the Arizona Department of Health Services is not recommending closure or modification. We will continue to closely monitor information from the CDC and AZDHS and follow their recommendations. We will keep you up to date on any changes we may have to make via emails, our website, and social media.

Second, we would like to give you some insight into our practices to keep our team and patient family safe and comfortable. Dentistry is uniquely positioned to protect our team and patients. On a daily basis, we practice ‘Universal Precautions.’ This means we ALWAYS assume that every patient may be carrying a contagious, dangerous disease and we follow strict guidelines to prevent the transmission of any potential disease, including Hepatitis, Tuberculosis, HIV, AND COVID-19(Coronavirus). This has been standard of care and regulated by the Centers for Disease Control since the 1980s with the AIDS
epidemic.

These measures include:
1. Strict hand hygiene protocols.
2. Use of single use disposable protective equipment and barriers.
3. Thorough disinfection of exposed or potentially exposed surfaces after every patient visit.
4. Disinfection and high-heat steam sterilization of instruments. Routine monitoring of sterilization verification.
5. Continual education on infection control techniques.

In addition to these mandated measures, we have also implemented:
1. Disinfection of common area surfaces every 30 minutes.
2. Availability of hand sanitizer in common areas.
3. Screening everyone who enters based on CDC recommendations.
4. Pre-procedural mouth rinse.

We are happy to address any concerns you may have. We will continue to care for our patient family during this time following all best practices and will monitor CDC guidelines for any new recommendations.

Thank you for being a part of our family. Thank you for allowing us to care for you and your family. Please know we are here to support you and help you in any way that we can.

In good health,

Facts About Getting Teeth Whitened in Our Office

Posted on 1/10/2020 by Dr. Andrew Zeiger
Facts About Getting Teeth Whitened in Our OfficeEveryone wants whiter teeth, and we can help you with that. Yellowing teeth is unavoidable. Whether it's due to age or the foods we eat, it's a struggle to retain white teeth for long periods of time.

While there are over-the-counter methods to whiten your teeth, those methods can cause harm to your teeth. Plus, some are just plain ineffective. Our office does safe and effective teeth whitening so you don't need to worry about causing permanent damage to your teeth.

It Does Not Work For Everyone
Contrary to belief, teeth whitening doesn't work on all types of teeth. This is why it's important to talk to us before trying to whiten your teeth. Some teeth don't work well with certain chemicals used to whiten teeth. Also, people who have veneers, crowns, or fillings may not be suitable candidates depending on their location.

In our office, we will determine if you are a good candidate for teeth whitening and which method will work best for you. In general, most people can benefit from teeth bleaching. Teeth bleaching is a simple procedure that usually only takes one visit to complete.

Protection Is A Must
During a teeth bleaching, we will cover your gums with a protective layer of gel or a rubber shielding. Bleach can be painful to gums so this step is necessary. Next, we will set up a device to hold your mouth open during the procedure. Then, we will apply a small amount of bleaching gel to your teeth and let the gel sit on your teeth for a small amount of time. Finally, we remove the gel from your teeth. Your teeth will be visibly whiter before you came in, however, they may be a little sensitive. Sensitivity should go away in a few hours to a day.

If you're interested in our teeth whitening services, please give our office a call. We can schedule a consultation appointment to see if you're a good candidate for teeth whitening. While you're here, please feel free to ask any questions about how to retain the whiteness of your smile after bleaching. We would love to share any information you need!
