A complete set of teeth is not just for showing off your great sociable smile; it is also for properly cutting up the food into chunks that can be easier to digest.

This is also is the first layer of protection against bacteria to prevent those unwanted germs into entering your body through your mouth and throat.

However, due to them being in heavy day in and day out, it is no wonder that they can break down. Losing a single tooth may not seem much, but it actually affects the whole structure of the mouth since the pressure and force applied to chewing food is no longer even. If you are losing a tooth, it is not the end of the world. There are a few things that you can do to help yourself.

You Can Have Bridges, Implants or Dentures

You have three main choices between having a bridge, an implant or a denture made for you. What a bridge does is to "bridge" the gap between the two nearest teeth where the tooth is missing.

This usually takes enamel form those teeth and is fabricated artificially. A dental implant on the other hand replaces the lost tooth with a different man-made tooth.

A denture, on the other hand, is a cosmetic equipment that can be taken off. For those who have lost their teeth for some time, the gums and teeth have already adjusted and that closes the possibility of having dental implants. Dentures are advisable for the more elderly ones while a bridge is an option that costs typically less than a denture.

If you are missing a tooth or even teeth, there are a lot of options available for you. For a more personalized dental treatment, please schedule an appointment with us and let us help you get your smile back and your dental health protected.
