Water is Important, But Bottled Water Can Cause Tooth Problems

Drinking water is something everyone needs to do each and every day. The entire body thrives off of water, and the more we drink, the healthier most of us tend to be. The same goes with your mouth.

The more water you drink, the healthier your teeth tend to be. However, this is not the case if the only thing you tend to drink is standard bottled water. You are missing out on one crucial ingredient.

Most Bottled Waters Do Not Have Fluoride Fortification

One of the biggest things that helps to protect your teeth against tooth decay is fluoride. Your teeth need a lot of it to stay healthy. You should have fluoride enriched toothpaste, you can easily get a mouthwash that is fortified with fluoride, and your water that comes out of the tap should also be full of healthy fluoride.

However, most companies that create bottled water do not add fluoride back into the water after their massive filtration process. This means that even if you are drinking as much water as you should be getting each day, that your body is still missing out on something it needs to be able to remain healthy.

If you do not like your tap water or are in a situation where you are just used to bottled water, you need to consider the health of your teeth. You should try a home filter that leaves fluoride behind or getting fluoride-fortified bottled water. You should also call your dentist and go in and get a checkup.

The less fluoride you get, the more likely you are to face cavities and larger scales of tooth decay. If you make sure to get enough fluoride while still drinking bottled water, then more power to you!
